We host a range of programs for all ages and interests, including baby lap-times, traditional storytimes, book clubs, crafts, cooking programs, movie screenings, and award-winning children’s performers and entertainers! Don’t see what you’re looking for - we are also always open to suggestions!

Storytime Series

Mother Goose on the Loose (Newborns–23 months)
Bond with your little one during a fun-filled interactive program featuring books, songs, rhymes, musical instruments, puppets & more.
Drop in; no pre-registration necessary!
Thursdays 10:30 – 11:00 AM

Toddler Storytime (Ages 2-3 years)
Children and their parent/caregiver enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and a craft.
This program is offered in six week sessions
Space limited; registration required.
Mondays 10:15 AM – 11 AM or 11:30 AM–12:15 PM

Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-5 years)
Children participate in stories, songs, rhymes, films and a craft while their grownup waits outside in the Children’s Department.
This program is offered in six week sessions.
Tuesdays 10:15 – 11 AM (space is limited; registration required) or Wednesdays 1:30 – 2:15 PM (drop in; no pre-registration necessary!)

Monthly Bookclubs and Program Series

Once Upon A Time (K-3rd Graders)
The Otis Library Children's Department has a beautiful Folk and Fairy Tale Collection. During this program, we explore different versions of favorite folk and fairy tales. We round out the afternoon with activities, dramatics, and crafts related to the tale of the month.
This program is held one Saturday a month from 11 AM-12 PM.

"On the Same Page" Book Club (2nd + 3rd Graders + their parent)
2nd and 3rd graders and their parents are invited to join a book discussion group. Kids and parents read a selected book in advance; then we come together once a month for lively discussions and activities. What a great way to spend time together! Please see our calendar to learn what book the club is reading for the month, multiple copies available for checkout at the Children’s Circulation Desk.
The Club meets one Monday night a month from 6-7 PM.

4+5ers Book Club (4th & 5th Graders)
Join the book club that has everyone talking! Each month fourth and fifth graders meet to discuss the book of the month, which is usually voted by the club members. This informal group enjoys book related games and activities and a pizza dinner! Participants must read the book to attend. Please see our calendar to learn what book the club is reading for the month, multiple copies of the title are available for checkout at the Children's Circulation Desk.
The Club meets one Wednesday night a month from 6-7:30 PM.

Recipe For Success (Ages 7-11)
Sponsored by People’s United Bank
This popular cooking program gives participants a chance to cook up a delicious treat to enjoy. Participants are encouraged to share a favorite poem, riddle, or picture with their peers. Books, games and related activities complete the fun during this special program.
The program is held one Saturday afternoon a month. Space is limited and registration is required.
