Honor and Remember

On Wednesday, December 2, at 12:00 p.m., Otis Library will be presented with an Honor and Remember Flag.  The flag is a way "to create, establish and promote a nationally recognized flag that would fly continuously as a visible reminder to all Americans... of the lives lost in defense of our national freedom." Bahria Hartman, whose memorial scrapbook is part of the library's local history and genealogy collection, will attend and accept the flag on behalf of Otis Library.

On Saturday, December 5, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Mrs. Hartman will be available in the atrium to discuss the scrapbook, which she began in 1941 following the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Mrs. Hartman has compiled the scrapbook from newspaper clippings, donated photographs and letters as a memorial to Norwich residents who have died in war since 1941.
