Norwich Youth Week

A look into our unique and necessary organizations that contribute to teens and their families with fun programs, support, and education. Please look at the different organizations to discover what we do and what we can do for you and what we provide.

Friday April 30th:

National Youth Service Day Awards: See teens in the community be awarded for their hard work at City Hall in Room 335 from 4-5 pm.

Empty Bowls: Buy a bowl for a soup dinner—proceeds go to St. Vincent’s DePaul Soup Kitchen from 5-7 at Three Rivers Community College

NFA Live: Music event at NFA, need a high school ID to attend from 6:30 – 10:30 pm at Norton Gym Proceeds from the event will go towards Haiti Relief efforts.

Saturday May 1st:

Free Comic Book Day: Join the national celebration with FREE comics, magic decks, and a raffle. See comic book characters, magicians, and zombies at Arkham Asylum at their new location 276 W. Main St.

Historic Downtown Walking Tour: with Dale Plummer in Downtown Norwich. Meet at the steps of City Hall at 10 am.

Ice Skating at The Rink: Enjoy a free skate for Norwich residents from 1-2.:20. Immediately following, there will be a skating lesson from 2:30 to 3:20

Sunday May 2nd:

Nature History Walk: with Dale Plummer—meet at the fountain in Mohegan Park at 1 pm.

Bowling: Norwich Bowling and Entertainment Center will be offering $2.00 games and $2.00 shoe rental throughout the day.

Comedy Night: Celebrate World Laughter Day with Who’s Line is it Norwich at Salvation Army from 4-6 for Middle School students and older.

Monday May 3rd

Self Defense Class: A self defense exhibition and clinic by Master John Fearns will be held on Monday May 3 at the Otis Library from 6:30-7:30. Please dress in loose comfortable clothes.

Magician: Rich Rothstein, Mr. Magic, will perform at the Otis Library for families starting at 6:30 pm.

Tuesday May 4th

Craft and Game Night: Kids to age 10 and kids over 65 are invited to gather together to make crafty gifts for mom for Mother’s Day. Following the craft, join us for a game night. with pizza and refreshments at the Senior Center stating at 6 pm.

Wednesday May 5th

Career Fair: How to create your own job, when there are none. This workshop is designed for teens, 14 or older, who are looking for cool and unique ways to make some extra $$$ and will be held in the Community Room at Otis Library from 3-5 pm.

Teen Movie Night: Attend a showing of the movie Avatar (2D) on the big screen in the Community Room at 6 pm at Otis Library.

Peace Art Show: The Peace In The World Collective
From May 5th thru 8th at the United Congregational Church on 87 Broadway. View the art work from 5 to 7 pm.

Thursday May 6th:

Ice Cream Sundaes: Make your own sundae after hours at the Otis Library from 6-7.

Friday May 7th:

World Youth Day: Streets Arts Festival:
Celebrate the Diversity in Norwich, sponsored by the Greater Norwich Anti-Bullying Coalition. Performances include: poetry, dance, music, fencing and Tai Chi at United Congregational Church 87 Broadway from 6-9 pm

Saturday May 8th:

Garden Pesto Party:
Eat delicious pesto made from the garden and help out with some planting from 12-2 at 11 Mechanic St
