Notary Public

Otis Library provides limited Notary Services as a courtesy to patrons. There is no fee for simple, non-commercial notarial actions.

Important Points

Important points to remember if you are requesting notarization from Otis Library’s Notary Public:

The Notary Public does not notarize documents pertaining to the following legal actions:

• Wills (We advise that wills be executed under the guidance of an attorney.)
• Powers of attorney
• Adoptions
• Child custody
• I-9 forms
• Blank forms
• The signer must provide the Notary Public with at least two forms of identification containing the individual’s signature, at least one of which must contain the signer’s photograph and physical description.
• The notary must witness your signing of the document.
• You are responsible for providing the required witnesses.

Caution

Notaries Public do not provide legal advice. If you have questions regarding your document’s content, form, preparation, adequacy, and process, please contact an attorney before requesting notarization. If a Notary is not comfortable notarizing the document, they are not required to notarize it.
